Agree or disagree, women have undeniably gone a long way, not only in music, but in society at large and whatever the future holds for music, politics and our communities, women must and will always be at the forefront of any progress, change and (r)evolution.<\/span><\/h5>\n

As anything creative comes straight from my heart, the matter is simple – I just feel when I want to release something into the world. It\u2019s impossible to fully describe this moment and unanimously say that with each track it’s <\/span>exactly then and then<\/span>. I think that, as in any situation, you should not wait too long or rush it, because neither one nor the other is good. When I compose or write something, I get to the point where it just “clicks”. This is the kind of moment that can easily escape and you can very simply get caught in a loop correcting, adding something, “perfecting” a given piece, but I believe that it doesn\u2019t work that way – you just have to listen to your heart and (often) reliable instinct, that this is the very moment.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n

Nie do ko\u0144ca da si\u0119 opisa\u0107 ten moment i jednog\u0142o\u015bnie stwierdzi\u0107, \u017ce przy ka\u017cdym utworze to DOK\u0141ADNIE WTEDY I WTEDY. I don’t have one recipe for all songs. Each piece is different, some are written in a few minutes, others are written over months, some are ready immediately, others take a long time to mature in the drawer and in my head. Some songs are light and pleasant, while with others I give so much of myself that I can’t just show it to the world without a second thought. It takes a while before I can be sure that I want someone to know what I have contained about myself. Together with the piece – even if we do not write about ourselves in it – we reveal a part of ourselves to the world. That’s why I share each song at different times after I write it – I have to decide how much I want to uncover. But when I am sure that I have everything I wanted to convey in them and that I did it in a way that will reach even a few people – then the composition can see the light of day.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n

Nie mam jednego przepisu na wszystkie utwory. Ka\u017cdy jest inny, niekt\u00f3re pisz\u0105 si\u0119 w kilka minut, inne pisz\u0105 si\u0119 miesi\u0105cami, niekt\u00f3re s\u0105 od razu gotowe, inne d\u0142ugo dojrzewaj\u0105 w szufladzie i mojej g\u0142owie. Niekt\u00f3re s\u0105 lekkie i opowiadaj\u0105 o czym\u015b przyjemnym, w innych oddaj\u0119 z siebie tak wiele, \u017ce nie potrafi\u0119 bez namys\u0142u tego po prostu pokaza\u0107 \u015bwiatu. Zanim b\u0119d\u0119 pewna, \u017ce chc\u0119, by kto\u015b dowiedzia\u0142 si\u0119 o mnie tego, co w nich zawar\u0142am, musi min\u0105\u0107 troch\u0119 czasu. Razem z utworem \u2013 nawet je\u017celi nie piszemy w nim o sobie \u2013 odkrywamy przed \u015bwiatem cz\u0119\u015b\u0107 siebie. Dlatego ka\u017cd\u0105 piosenk\u0105 dziel\u0119 si\u0119 w r\u00f3\u017cnym czasie po jej napisaniu \u2013 musz\u0119 zdecydowa\u0107, ile siebie chc\u0119 odkry\u0107. This phenomenon must of course be accompanied by a production that will reflect, or at least not distort, the atmosphere and emotions of the piece.

??\u00a0One of the great things about music is that it has so many possibilities, endless solutions. And thanks to the fact that we play live, the release of an album or a single does not close these possibilities. It seems to me that none of our songs in this sense is ready, each one evolves, and sometimes some of them get a completely new life. And whether we share a song with the audience sooner or later is a very intuitive decision of the entire band.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n

??\u00a0Comparing a work to a child won\u2019t be novel, but this is what I will use. I know it’s ready to fly out of the nest when I’m sure it can handle it. And when encounters receptive listeners, they create their own stories together, while my story – from which it began – although “life-giving” for the work, ceases to be the most important.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n

You can feel it. Of course, working on songs is often arduous, but the more work you put into your work, the more satisfaction you can enjoy after its completion. In our band we have our ‘roles’ and each of us adds a part of ourselves to our creations. We can say that in music we have our own language in which we understand each other very well. Edyta often composes her own cello part, which complements our original version with a refined, warm and aggressive tone. I must admit that Edyta uses her bow to paint beautiful phrases that give our pieces something unspoken … Our trio was the base to which we added piano and cajon. It takes a long time to feel one another in terms of music. Every day, each of us is different, which also affects the music, although we understand each other better and know what we expect from each other, which is why our work is often a long process. I approach recordings in the same way as I approach live concerts. When I set a recording date, I try not to move it. That’s why I practice for the recordings well in advance. It is mobilizing and makes excuses difficult. Once entered in the calendar, the recording must end with a new publication. There is no time for reruns during the recording because of my mistakes. If I repeat the recording, it is more for technical reasons. Before the recording itself, I practice in front of the mirror or even record myself. Then I look at myself as I would one of my students. Of course, just before the publication itself, new ideas and doubts arise in the mind. However, due to long preparations and working through the material, I am sure that the presented recording is the best I can do at that moment. It doesn’t mean that I stop working on a given track. Its premiere is a new beginning of work on it. Many songs that have been with me for years, from concert to concert or from recording to recording, change and mature in me. This is a good sign because it means that my workshop is still evolving and that I am not falling into a routine.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n

I can never be 100% sure that a song is ready to come out of the drawer. The first confrontation with the audience is part of the creative process. That’s when the most interesting ideas appear. My songs are never finished, I often (even years later) change the composition. I often adapt the arrangement to a specific audience, depending on the reaction and needs. The audience is a very important part of this process. In my opinion, in music, the recipient is as important as the author. Therefore, the creation does not end with the writing of the text and melody. It is a living process that never ends as long as someone is playing and someone is listening.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n

When I like it sober, too. But more seriously, in Klejnot Bazaru, we treat the compositions as still alive and during our concerts we like to play them always a bit differently. I consider a piece ready when I like it enough and when further work on it could spoil the effect – a bit of rawness and small imperfections make the music real. Sometimes some songs are ready, but you have to put them aside for a while and listen to them after a long break to see if they are worth showing. I often go back to material that didn’t seem good enough to me, and discover that I like it after a while. Other times someone drops in to the rehearsal, we play what we are working on and they\u2019re delighted with a piece that we were not convinced of. My assumption is that you have to try to do everything in the best possible version, but you shouldn’t be blocked by perfectionism.<\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n
