[\/nk_block_quote][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][nk_title like=”” style=””] Out of the Comfort Zone <\/strong>[\/nk_title][nk_text]When art, music and culture seem to be at risk, museums (as well as other private and public cultural institutions) should be the ever-burning flame that lights the way and keeps the pyre of culture burning. They are the ones holding the space and at times the means necessary to innovate. It is time for art museums to get out of their comfort zones and start using their venues in new and non-traditional ways; to open their doors to other creators and collaborators and exchange ideas. Today, museums need to do more than just store and exhibit objects of value, they need to host, co-author and enable the creative process. They need to generate cultural value.[\/nk_text][nk_text]Like in any crisis, new ideas arise and alliances are forged. The post-lockdown cultural agenda in Krak\u00f3w was in the making when we first approached the National Museum. While discussing the possibility of using some of their galleries as music venues in a joint project, we couldn\u2019t help noticing the stage mounted on the backyard of the former Cracovia Hotel. \u201cHave you got a music programme?\u201d<\/em> \u2014 we asked. \u201cWhy? Could you put one together for us?\u201d<\/em> \u2014 they replied. What ensued was a series of World Music concerts that took place throughout September in ArtSfera MNK<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The focus was on Brazil and Africa and the music styles went from Samba, Forr\u00f3, Bossanova to Jazz, Ethno, Funk and Afrobeat. In different measures, it also had an impact on all industries and sectors of society. All socio-political implications aside, it seems that The\u00a0Arts & Culture<\/strong><\/em> was one of the pillars of mental and spiritual sustenance during the idleness of quarantine and through the prevalent uncertainty of COVID-times.<\/p>\n

As a society, we are, therefore, in debt to the bearers of art and culture, to the creators and creatives, to the artists and musicians, the thinkers and dreamers, academies and collectives, the cultural managers and art directors.
