Senegalese multi-instrumentalist Ablaye Badji plucked warmth and life into the pulsing heart of his traditional Senegalese Kora on a live session from Klub Buda. Channelling his Griot family ancestors’ passion for music, and with hints of inspiration from world-renowned Kora players like Toumani Diabate, Ablaye’s performance was in turns understated yet quietly bombastic, submerged as it was in African folk’s myth and magic. His music radiates joy, sunshine, happiness – the perfect counterbalance to a world shrouded in the dense fog and drizzle of Kraków.
