One of the most innovative and influential bands in the punk rock and world music scenes, Gogol Bordello uniquely blends punk rock, Gypsy music, and Eastern European influences and is characterised by energetic performances and politically-charged lyrics. A multi-national band formed in New York City in 1999, it was founded by frontman Eugene Hütz, who was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. Hütz’s personal background has been a major influence on Gogol Bordello’s music often reflecting themes of cultural identity, displacement, and social justice.
