A blend of folk, bluegrass and traditional Finnish influences.
Paula grew up singing Finnish folk songs in a choir, and hating her father’s country music cassette tapes, only to find later in life that her musical center was somewhere between the two. Though she sings in Finnish, many of her songs are closer to americana than the stark melancholy of Finnish folk. Among the singers she admires the most are Gillian Welch, Iris DeMent and Alison Krauss.
