A “totally engaged” art rock institution in Kraków
W 2008 roku Tom Carter i Christopher B. Gray założyli zespół The Awarians (od krakowskiego klubu Awaria) i zagrali swój pierwszy koncert autorskiej muzyki w Berlinie. Można by to określić jako efektowny punkrock z elektroniką.
Burzliwy wiatr zmian przeobraża grupę i materiał, aż do wydania pierwszego albumu zatytułowanego „Kup Sobie!” w 2012 roku. Wkrótce potem wszyscy pierwotni członkowie, z wyjątkiem Christophera, opuszczają zespół, ale muzyka wciąż czeka…
Po wielu wspaniałych i burzliwych latach prób, reszta pozaziemskich członków w tajemniczy sposób przybywa z kosmosu, tworząc nową mieszankę rocka, funku i art rocka. Led Zeppelin i Gong, jak również wczesne nagrania Red Hot Chilli Peppers są głównymi inspiracjami grupy.
Magiczna łamigłówka została ostatecznie rozwiązana w 2018 roku wraz z dołączeniem gitarzysty i twórczego kompozytora Maćka Klimy, który, jak się okazało był brakującym elementem. Wokalistka Kasia Bobik niedługo potem przesiada się z perkusjonaliów za pełny zestaw perkusyjny z uśmiechem na twarzy, który cementuje muzykę w jedną całość. Mikolaj Spendel przy użyciu gitary basowej (a raczej wielu gitar) walczył o utrzymanie projektu w różnych chwilach niepewności dzięki swojej nieustannej wierze i sprawności technicznej. Sara Mikuła-Spendel zapewnia melodię, racjonalność i humor, aby utrzymać grupę w dobrej kondycji. Christopher B. Gray zaś nieustannie kontynuuje pisanie tekstów, melorecytację i pełnienie roli pełnego charyzmy frontmana, tak jak robił to od samego początku.
Obecnie zespół pilnie pracuje nad pisaniem nowego materiału na nadchodzący album „Krakow Time Machine”, którego część mamy już na taśmie!
Wizytówką zespołu jest niepowtarzalna atmosfera energetycznych koncertów. Występ na żywo można opisać jako „ABSOLUTNIE WCIĄGAJĄCY!”
In 2008 Tom Carter & Christopher B. Gray form The Awarians, named after the club Awaria in Kraków, and play their first concert of original music in Berlin. It could have been described as extra-terrestrial punk and rock with electronics.
Turbulent winds of change mutate the group and their material until the first LP titled “Kup Sobie!” is released in 2012. Shortly thereafter all the original members except Christopher leave the band, but the material and legacy live on.
After many great and tumultuous years of trying to reinvent the wheel, the rest of the extra-terrestrial members mysteriously descend from the heavens to conceive a new mix of Rock, Funk, and Art Rock. Led Zeppelin and Gong are among the primary influences of the band as well as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
The magic puzzle is finally resolved in 2018 with the entrance of guitar player and creative composer Maciek Klima who can be said to have been the missing piece. Shortly after vocalist Kasia Bobik steps up from additional percussions to a full drum kit with a smile on her face which cements things into place. Mikolaj Spendel on bass has fought to keep the project alive though various moments of uncertainty with his continuous faith and super strength, low end glue as well as technical prowess. Sara Mikuła-Spendel has provided, melody, rationality as well as humor to keep the group in good condition. Christopher B. Gray on vocals continues with his lyrics, spoken word, recitation and FULLY CHARGED frontman stage pressence as he has from the beginning.
The whole band is working together dilegently to write new material for the up and coming LP “Krakow Time Machine” which has already been partially recorded.
The calling card for the band is the unrepeatable atmosphere of the unique and energetic performances given by the band. The live performance can only be described as “TOTALLY ENGAGED!”
